The LCAJFL and South Lyon Panthers will conduct our annual team placement meeting in which your child will be placed onto an available team by color and level.  The is done by blind draw only.  We cannot and will not be able to place a participant on a specific team color.  The process is governed by the LCAJFL and not the South Lyon Panthers.

Player Notification: Mid to late May

Your Head Coach will contact you no later than the end of May.  If you have not been contacted by June 1, please contact any Board Member.  If a participant is not placed on a team and on a waiting list, you will be notified by a Board Member soon after the Team Placement event.

Team Meet and Greet: Typically June or July

We encourage each Head Coach to hold a team meet and greet for parents and participants to go over the season expectations and get to know each other.  This is a good time for parents and participants to ask questions and notify the coaching staff of any concerns you may have.  The meet and greet is for information only.  LCAJFL bylaws prohibit any practice, coaching, or footballs at the event.

Football Clinics: Typically June and July

The South Lyon High Schools offer clinics each summer for school aged children grades 3-10.  A notification will be sent to all parents and information will be posted to our website regarding dates and registration information.

Football Equipment Pickup: Late July - Must Attend

Equipment provided by the South Lyon Panthers Organization includes a helmet with chin strap, mouth guard, shoulder pads, practice pants, game pants, and game jersey.  Equipment not provided includes cleats, athletic support and cup, girdle, rib protector, and any optional equipment such as arm pads, gloves, etc.  Practice jerseys are not provided and can be purchased during the registration process for an additional fee.

Practice: To be determined by LCAJFL Board of Directors

The first 3 days of practice are helmets/mouth guard, athletic supporter/cup, and cleats only.  No physical contact is allowed and it is suggested that only football related conditioning be done.  Days 4 and 5 are full equipment with no physical contact allowed.  After practice 5, full contact is permitted.  Any delays due to weather will push these dates back accordingly.

Pantherfest: Late August

Our annual Pantherfest is a scrimmage and celebration of the upcoming season. Pantherfest is a mandatory event unless prior arrangements have been made with your coach or unit director. Instructional levels do not participate in the scrimmage.

Game Days:  August thru Late October (no games Labor Day weekend)

Games will be played on Saturdays at locations across the LCAJFL.

Equipment Return: Late October or Early November

All equipment must be turned in for your family to be in good standing with the Panther Organization.  Our equipment is sent out for testing and reconditioning every couple of years or is replaced.  We need the equipment as soon as possible after the season to facilitate our inventory and conditioning program to make sure all of the equipment is safe and clean.
