All Game Day Volunteer Activities will be sent out through Sign Up Genius. A description for each of the volunteer activities is listed below. The volunteer links will be sent once the League has published the schedule.
Once the game schedule has been released by the KVYFC, all families will be notified via email and by their Unit Director when the volunteer sign up page is available. The game schedule is typically released in mid to late August by the KVYFC.
Gate (2 People/game): Responsibilities include receiving admission fee from guests, giving 50/50 volunteers their tools, and manage the volunteer sign up sheet. The two volunteers per game must be from different households and not related.
50/50 (1 Person/game): Responsibilities include selling tickets on both the home and visitor sides through the 4th quarter of the game.
Concessions (3 People/game): Responsibilities include working in the front at the window taking orders and money and/or getting the food and drinks for the customer.
Chains (3 People/game): Working on the visitors sideline with either the yard marker or down marker for the duration of the game. Chains are reserved for one family member per game of football players or cheer on the field. No exceptions.
Announcer (1 Person/game): Responsibilities include announcing the game, 50/50 winner, and recognizing our Sponsors.
Spotter (1 Person/game): Responsibilities include replaying all plays and player names/numbers to the announcer.
Timekeeper (1 Person/game): Responsibilities include managing the game clock and scoreboard.
Videographer (1 Person/game/full season): Responsibilities include video taping games and providing game film disks to the Head Coach. Credit towards the volunteer requirement only applies to home games and the videographer needs to be approved by the Head Coach prior to sign up. There is no online sign up for Videographer and anyone interested should contact their Head Coach for more information.
Cheerfest: This year (2024) South Lyon will be hosting cheerfest. There will be various slots available to fulfill.
Suggestions: If you are not familiar with the volunteer roles, here are some suggestions. Since you will not be able to see the game field from the gate or concessions, volunteer for this activity when your child is not playing. The 50/50, chains, spotter, and videographer are good activities during your child's game. The announcer and timekeeper can be done during any game.
What if I cannot fulfill my volunteer requirement? Anyone unable to fulfill their volunteer requirement will be fined at the end of the season. Failure to pay will result in your child's suspension from the Panthers Organization until payment is made. The South Lyon Panthers is a volunteer organization and we all need to support our children to have a successful program.
The South Lyon Panthers is a volunteer organization and game day volunteers are required to ensure a great experience for the football and cheer teams. Each family is to fulfill their volunteer obligation of 5 slots (approximately 2 hours each). Participants in the program include both football and cheer/pom. Board and Auxiliary Board Members, Head and Assistant Coaches, and Unit Directors fulfill their duties with their respective positions and are exempt from the volunteer requirement.
